Indian Kalarippayattu Federation (IKF), established in 1995, aims to promote Kalarippayattu, the Martial Arts of Kerala and propagates its values. The well- structured, variegated aspects of the Kalarippayatu, its moral and ethical principles, medicinal practices like MarmaTherappy and Ayurvedic-Kalari medication, and highly sophisticated and systematised Martial Art from body preparations to armed practices, delimit it from the confines of a common Martial Arts, The aspiring and unchallenged work done by the Indian KalarippayattuFederationand the Kerala State Sports Council’s recommedations to value the prospects of Kalarippayattu-“The Mother Of All Martial Arts-was favourable considered and the Ministry and Youth Affairs And Sports, Govt. of India recognized IKF as a National Federation in 2015.
IKF has got association in 25 states and it conducts State Level Competitions, NatitionalKalarippayattu championship and National Kalarippayattu Festival. Technically Kalarippayattu is a Martial Art but its multifaceted positives offers physically fit, mentally strong gentlemen for a Nation. National Championships and Festivals unite the youth in India to help National Integration. IKF offers a disciplined and cultured youth for the welfare and progress of the Nation with the promotion of Kalarippayattu and complement the motto ‘’Unity In Diversity’’.
Indian Kalarippayattu fedaration was registered under the charitable society act 1955, and commissioning it’s work Since 1995 onwards.
The first prsident of the IKF was Padmasree Madhu the film actor and director. Adv. Poonthura Soman held the post of secretrary general and right now too.
IKF is already affiliated to the Indian Council of Sports in 2003 september . Narasimha Das was the president and adv. Poonthura Soman was the Secretary General . Recogonization by the international Kalarippayattu Fedaration in the year 2007. IKF/ IND/ 001/07- 1st april 2007
